Stephanie Slewka is an award- winning producer with programs on American broadcasters such as ESPN and Fox, and international broadcasters including the BBC, ARD German Television and TF1 French Television.

Before her move to television, Slewka worked in print, reporting for The Hearst Newspapers, The London Sunday Times and People Magazine. At 24, she was Washington Bureau Chief for Life Magazine. Having grown up in Europe, she started her career working on air in Flemish for a pirate radio station in Belgium.

Her first independent documentary, "On This Island," made on a shoestring, about a rift over a musical on a small island in Maine was praised by Maine PBS as "one of the best descriptions of life in rural areas in a long,
long time." The film will show at the Santa Fe Film Festival on Dec. 7th and 8th 2001.

A traveler at heart, she once crossed Africa from top to bottom overland solo, and has been to more
than fifty countries. She speaks four languages fluently and knows her way out of scrapes of all kinds. She lives in a crumbling heap of Victoriana in the heart of downtown Washington DC.
